About
Lily Borak is a professional photographer currently living in Denver, Colorado.
Art has always played a large part in Lily's life. Throughout her childhood, her parents encouraged her to draw, write, dance, sing, and play instruments. She participated in choir and theater during high school, but fell in love with photography upon entering college. Photography interested Lily because it's very essence is to show truth in what is seen. It sheds light on a subject by recording a moment in time, drawing your eye to details in realistic or abstract ways. It is a powerful tool of communication in the ever-expanding digital world. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Photo Media from the University of Kansas.
After her first vacations abroad took her to the tropical land of Honduras and the spiritual nation of Japan, Lily became passionate about photographing the landscapes and people living in those countries. Traveling around the world has opened Lily to new cultures and she will continue her photographic explorations of the globe. Lily seeks to shed a different perspective on humanity's relationship with the world, inspiring them to lead lives for the greater good of themselves as an individual, as a part of society, and as a part of our planet. Her art encourages others to think for themselves and contemplate what they see, hear, and believe.
What inspires Lily are the quiet moments that no one else is watching. Catching the perfect light on a mournful face or sparkling river is blissful. Photography has encouraged her to step outside and take a different look at what is around us even if it is not always charming. Take a look beneath the surface.
